Wrestlemania X8 thoughts- by Extreme Superstar

As a diehard Hulkamaniac I couldn't be happier with the  return of Hulk Hogan, I have always admired him and it truly was a pleasure to have him back in a WWF ring. Many critics have a strong dislike for Hulk Hogan and for years have doubted his ability, saying he "Didn't have it anymore," and was "Washed up." Despite all the "Smart Marks" that doubted him he pulled us all in one more time and tore the house down at the Toronto Skydome. I learned a long time ago that you never count out Hulk Hogan, because he always been able to come back and maintain his hold on the Wrestling world. Take the NWO angle for example, most people felt his career was fading before the formation of the NWO but he bounced back, reinvented himself, and changed the face of Wrestling again. The sheer reaction Hulk recieved at Wrestlemania was a testament to his impact on the business, and he put his all into the match (despite serious rib injury) and created an instant classic. Don't get me wrong the Rock wasn't just a bystander but the truth is nobody could have had a match with that much drama and emotion surrounding it with him except for Hulk Hogan. You can put many guys in the ring with Rock and put on a great show but none of them have that instant "something" that only a legend like the Hulkster can provide. Those of you who seems to have a grudge against Hulk Hogan should get off your soapboxes and realize he's not as bad as you make himout to be, I mean if you wanted you could make the Pope out to be evil. You form your opinions on what you think is fact but is really second hand information that probably is from some bitter and jealous Wrestler who didn't have the goods to get over themselves. How many of you have been in the locker rooms? How many of you can say you know Hulk Hogan personally? It's pretty easy to rag on him when your hiding behind your keyboard and think you are something special Well... NEWS FLASH!!!! None of you are Wrestlers! How can you possibly pass judgement on a man you've never met? Next time you write your columns praising the workrate of Chris Benoit, and Worship Ric Flair, remember one thing... HULK HOGAN HAS JUMPED RIGHT OVER THEIR HEADS AND DWARFED THEIR CARRERS. No matter how good an athlete Chris Benoit is (and he is) or whoever you like know that somewhere, somebody will be saying "That guys good in the ring...BUT HE'S NO HULK HOGAN!" Face it Ric Flair never had one tenth of the charisma as Hulk Hogan, you might say he is a better worker but truth be told Hulk always was the choice of the general public. Quite Frankly if I can use smark mode and base my opinions on crap spread about wrestlers on the net, from what I've heard about Ric Flair I don't like him one bit, he seems (from that aspect) to be a complete asshole and a sick pervert, but really who am I or you to judge? THAT'S MY POINT! I understand not being all that impressed with a guy from his mic and ring work but you people just take it way too far and who are any of us to rag on anybody like that especially without knowing them. Personally I respect Ric Flair and all that but he has never impressed me, He has a shitty build, and his promos can at times be quite entertaining but he usually started screaming and in later years degenerated into a "Crazy Old Man" Hell, his 1998 return to Nitro with the Horsemen had me marking out like a lifelong Flair fan but other than that he just seemed generic to me. Chris Benoit is one of my favorite workers but he dosen't really set the world on fire when it comes to personality, in any case I NEVER, EVER, let that get to a point where I feel the need to make judgements on them, and bash them, I simply just don't like a guy and that's it. I guess I just don't have the Elitest attitude that many internet writers seem to have, and don't feel the need to ridicule those I am not a fan of. As writers I feel those individuals need to step back and check their own egos because it seems they have over-estimated their worth, but then going back to what I've been saying is it really my place to make that call? Please don't mistake this as just a "Hogan Mark" or "Benoit/Flair Basher" trying to defend my thoughts but I used them because they seem to be the most prominant objects of praise and ridicule on the internet wrestling scene. And despite all those who will rag on me for this piece of writing I'd say it just strenghtens my opinion on the subject and possibly be a reflection of what those people are really like. I would have liked to just end with the "If you rip on this go F*** yourself," but then i'd just be as bitter and cynical as those I have written about.
